A Special Connection in Classes

Your Story
We met while taking classes as students in the Master of Higher Education program. Though it took us a full year and a half in order to begin dating after first meeting, many of our classmates would reserve seating so that we would be next to each other during classes. In total, we took seven classes together over the course of two years. After moving to Georgia two years ago to pursue full time jobs as administrative professionals in higher education, a relocation back to Ohio is in the works as we both wish to be closer to family as we start our life together.

The Proposal and Marriage
The proposal happened on October 10, 2014 at the National Association of Campus Activities conference in Myrtle Beach, SC. With the help of Ashley's parents, who were in town at the same time on vacation, Deven was able to track me down for a surprise proposal. Deven picked the conference because we both had attended together in the past. A wedding is set for June 11, 2016 just outside of Fredonia NY - a direct split in location between their families.

How do you and your spouse stay connected to Kent State as alumni?
We are both members of the Kent State alumni association and are in frequent contact with the HIED professors and cohort. If any undergraduate student is looking for a graduate program we speak nothing but great things about all that Kent State has to offer for both an education and community.
