Kent State archaeologists Drs. Metin I. Eren and Michelle R. Bebber, in collaboration with colleagues Dr. Justin Pargeter (NYU), Dr. Mike Fisch (Aeronautics & Engineering, Kent State), and Dr. Briggs Buchanan (University of Tulsa), have won a senior-level National Science Foundation (NSF) grant for their proposal, "Collaborative Research: Does prehistoric stone tool 'backing' result in improved adhesion?" This four-year project will take these researchers from the lab, to South Africa, and back to understand how prehistoric people engineered composite tool technology.
