Eric Black
Biography
Eric Black is the Music Recruitment Coordinator at ºÚÁÏÍø and a freelance tubist in Northeast Ohio.
He was born and raised in the small town of South Hill, Virginia. During his high school years, he was a soloist with the United States Army Field Band as a result of winning the US Army All-American Young Artist Competition. He went on to achieve a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from George Mason University where he primarily studied with former Boston Brass tubist and current podcast mogul, Andrew Hitz. He then went to study at Carnegie Mellon University under the tutelage of Pittsburgh Symphony principal tubist, Craig Knox, obtaining a master’s degree in Tuba Performance in 2019.
He has played with many orchestras and bands throughout the east coast performing with the Fayetteville Symphony as well as the Columbus Symphony Brass Quintet. Along with this, he is a substitute tubist for the Rock Hill Symphony, Canton Symphony Orchestra, Akron Symphony Orchestra, Erie Philharmonic, and River City Brass Band.
