Biography
The Kooijman lab is broadly interested in the physical chemistry of membrane lipids, and protein-lipid interactions. Our work is divided into two main directions: 1) elucidating the ionization properties of glycerophosphilipids, and lipid spontaneous curvature and how these influence how proteins interact with individual lipids and membranes, and 2) how proteins interact with intracellular lipid droplets, specifically we focus on the perilipin protein family.
Keywords: Biophysics protein/lipid interactions, physical chemistry of lipid structure and function, model membranes, neutral lipid storage (lipid droplets/adipocytes).
