Biography
Freeland Southard is an artist-designer and maker whose furniture work focuses on integrating materials, processes, along with aesthetic and technical references. He uses his knowledge of construction, materials and teamwork as motivation for the conceptual intent behind his furniture practice. Freeland has shown work in galleries in Washington D.C., Cleveland and Columbus, OH, and Indianapolis and Kokomo, IN. Freeland received a BFA in ceramics at the Cleveland Institute of Art and an MFA in Furniture Design from the Herron School of Art and Design in Indianapolis, IN. Freeland enjoys being at home spending time with his wife Susan Skoczen, raising their three children and working in his studio.
