The School of Communication Studies at invites its alumni and friends to a three-day Homecoming celebration from Oct. 3-5. RSVP to attend the Centennial Awards Celebration, a lecture by distinguished alumnus Gerald (Gerry) Sargent, and a celebration of the career of Carole Barbato, Ph.D. Email comm@kent.edu to RSVP for each event, including the names of any guests.
Gerry Sargent, M.A. 1972, will discuss “How to make a college degree translate into a productive career.” The presentation is open to all students and alumni and will be held in the FirstEnergy Auditorium (340 Franklin Hall) on Thursday, Oct. 3, at 2 p.m. Sargent is the Corporate Vice President of Challenger, Gray and Christmas, one of the most prestigious employment consulting and outplacement firms in the world.
A special celebration honoring the career of Carole Barbato, Ph.D. will be hosted in Taylor Hall, on Oct. 4 at 2 p.m. Following the reception be a special viewing of the May 4 Visitors Center located on the first floor of Taylor Hall.
The school will recognize three alumni and bestow the inaugural Dr. Dominic Infante Communication Scholarship on Friday, Oct. 4 at the Centennial Awards Celebration beginning at 5 p.m. in the Moulton Hall Ballroom. Refreshments will be provided. The presentation of awards will follow at 6 p.m.

The Centennial Award is the highest honor given by the School of Communication Studies and recognizes those associated with the school who are nationally and/or internationally recognized for their preeminent contributions to the field of communication.
The Distinguished Alumni Award honors alumni with more than 15 years of professional experience since graduation and who have made a significant contribution to the communication field with demonstrated success in their chosen career.
The Outstanding Young Professional Award honors alumni with five to 15 years of professional experience since graduation who have made a significant contribution to the communication field with demonstrated success in a chosen career.
Join the College of Communication and Information (CCI) on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m. for the Homecoming parade. CCI will host a hospitality tent at the corner of Lincoln and Main Streets during the parade. RSVP to Jennifer Kramer at jlkramer@kent.edu to attend.
