COMM Professor Nominated for Kent State Mothers, Mentors and Muses

School of Communication Studies Associate professor Catherine Goodall, Ph.D., will be recognized at the Women's Center's Mothers, Mentors and Muses event ono April 3.

Goodall has been specifically identified as someone who is significantly instrumental in the lives of students and colleagues and as someone who exemplifies the role of mother, mentor and/or muse.

The event will take place at the Hotel & Conference Center on Tuesday, April 3 from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The Women’s Center ninth annual scholarship fundraiser signature event recognizes female-identifying faculty or staff who have made a significant difference in the life of a student or colleague. More than 350 women from across the university have received this honor. This award is intended to honor female-identifying Kent State faculty or staff who have served in any of the three roles:

  • Mother- one who has helped “birth” ideas, thoughts and academic endeavors in others, or who serves as a nurturing individual to others
  • Mentor- one who serves as a trusted counselor, colleague and/or role model
  • Muse- one who inspires creativity and artistic/academic passion in others

“A large number of communication studies faculty and staff have previously been recognized at this event, and I feel honored to have been nominated because those women have been such important, influential and supportive colleagues,” Goodall said.

Stephanie Smith, an assistant professor in the School of Communication Studies and School of Journalism and Mass Communication, will be a guest speaker.

Registration is required in order to attend the event. Tickets are $10 for students and $50 for non-students. Register for the event here: .
