Music School Central has named ’s Hugh A. Glauser School of Music a top 10 “Hidden Gem” music school in the United States for 2017. Music Central is a website that provides information to students about college music programs, audition and admissions advice, as well as career opportunities in the music industry.
The honor is the most recent awarded to Kent State’s School of Music for its high-quality educational programs.
“The Hugh A. Glauser School of Music is dedicated to providing students with a first-rate learning experience in a family environment, and it is always gratifying to receive external recognition for our work,” says Ralph Lorenz, interim director of the school. “We hope that this recent recognition as a top-ranked 'Hidden Gem' music school will help get the word out about our outstanding faculty members and programs.”
Kent State's Hugh A. Glauser School of Music is one of the most distinguished schools of music in the Midwest. The school offers a wide variety of opportunities for both music majors and nonmajors through courses and ensembles. Music education is a vital and central part of Kent State’s School of Music. With in-depth preparation and exposure in pedagogy and musicianship, students are eager and ready to embark upon the field of teaching. Concentrations in performance and composition are also available and include studying with distinguished academic faculty. In addition, the school hosts the Kent/Blossom Music Festival, among the most respected summer professional training festivals in the country. This year’s festival runs June 25-July 29.
