Kent State Vies for Most Active University in 12-Week Challenge

University joins the On the Move University Challenge

A healthy campus starts with healthy employees. That is why you are encouraged to join TEAM KENT STATE as we embark on the inaugural launch of the On the Move University Challenge. This 12-week challenge begins Oct. 2 and provides faculty and staff with a blue and golden opportunity to move more, sit less and become the Most Active University in the nation!

Using a platform similar to the On the Move National Corporate Challenge, the Wellness Council of America (WELCOA) has partnered with Kent State and Plymouth State University to create a unique opportunity for colleges and universities to participate in a movement that supports healthier lifestyles, challenges your competitive nature and lets institutions identify as some of the healthiest campuses in the nation. Through its unique online platform, faculty and staff can connect across all Kent State campuses and encourage each other through boosting, learning and assessing physical, psychological and emotional barriers. Each month has timely themes to feed your mind, body and spirit. The monthly themes are:

  • October – Power of Resiliency
  • November – Gratitude
  • December – Happy Healthy Holidays

The On the Move University Challenge will help you move more, assess your progress, create a support system for physical activity and achieve total well-being. It provides resources to help you move physically, will help you improve mentally and advance your personal relationships.Kent State is participating in the On the Move University Challenge. All full- and part-time employees are eligible to participate in the On the Move University Challenge. For quick and easy directions on how to register, visit the University Challenge webpage.

“This is a challenge you don’t want to miss,” says Kim Hauge, director of employee wellness at Kent State. “Let’s show each other, and the higher education community, that the blue and gold are undeniably Kent State!

“Not only is the platform informative and engaging by itself, the Employee Wellness team has added several opportunities along the way for employees to win prizes throughout the 12-week challenge,” Hauge adds. “It’s going to be a fabulous opportunity, and I think the timing is perfect as we all seek to maintain some sense of balance as we near the holiday season.”

Note: For employees participating in the Wellness Your Way incentive program, you may earn 60 Tier 2 points for 2018. Conditions do apply. Visit the webpage for details.
