Fishing at Jungle Tarpon Lodge

Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing at Jungle Tarpon Lodge

Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing at Jungle Tarpon Lodge

Our sport fishing anglers depart each day targeting full size Trophy Tarpon averaging over 60 pounds. Big Snook and many other species patrol these waters as well.  In fact, the World Record Snook was caught just down the beach from the lodge.

Fly fishing and spin fishing are both effective ways of hooking these fine fish. We might keep a tasty Snook or Tuna to enjoy for dinner with local fruits and vegetables harvested from our own property, but otherwise we practice strictly catch and release with the local resident species.

Getting the Boats Ready

Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing in the Parismina region has been legendary for decades. Famed writers Ernest Hemingway and Zane Grey ventured to this region in pursuit of this exotic species. Our Costa Rica Tarpon Fishing trips honor that legend with Tarpon and Snook fishing in a quaint lodge accessible only by boat or plane.  Most trips begin with a pickup in San Jose at your hotel.

Your complimentary van transfer will cross a mountain pass and Cloud Forest, travel through a working banana plantation before ending at the rivers edge, where your guide will meet you for the 20-minute trip upriver to the lodge.

After orientation at the lodge, there’s time for a wonderful lunch featuring local fruits and vegetables before you hit the water for some world class fishing. When you return to the lodge each and every evening, happy hour awaits with an open “Cerveza Bar” plus soda and bottled water.

Friendly Lodge Manager with your morning coffee

Each following day will begin with an early morning cup of steaming Costa Rican coffee. The rest of your day you and a companion and your local guide will cast a lure or fly to the schools of “Silver Kings” — sometimes just past the rivers mouth in the Caribbean Sea and sometimes in the quiet lagoons or Jungle Rivers.

For the “All Fishing” itineraries, the daily schedule calls for offshore fishing in the morning (weather and waves depending for Costa Rica tarpon fishing), returning to the lodge for a wonderful lunch. Afterward it’s more fishing! Afternoons are scheduled in the jungles, exploring the myriad of rivers, canals, lagoons and bays of the water-crossed region. In the afternoons, some may choose to exchange a rod for their camera after lunch and simply enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Jungles of Torgugero National Park.
