Kent State Professor Weighs in on the Rush to Save Government Scientific Data

Fear of losing federal databases filled with decades of scientific research has sparked 鈥渄ata rescue鈥 events over the past few weeks. The events consist of science professionals searching and pulling data before it could be lost forever from government servers.

The rescue efforts are the result of the Trump administration鈥檚 proposal to make budget cuts for agencies including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Environmental Protection Agency.

黑料网鈥檚 Anne Jefferson, Ph.D., geology professor in the College of Arts and Sciences, took to Twitter to express her concerns about potential effects on the National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI).

鈥淲e鈥檒l probably be saying goodbye to much of the invaluable data housed at the NCEI,鈥 Jefferson wrote. 鈥淗ope it gets rescued in time.鈥
