Meet Olesia Pavlenko, the David B. Smith Endowed Fellowship recipient. Olesia is a Teaching English as a Second Language Masters student in the Department of English.
Please give a short overview of your research:
My main areas of research are second language acquisition and corpus linguistics. As a researcher, I strive to help students and teachers implement empirically supported pedagogical practices.
What made you choose to pursue your graduate degree here at Kent State?
I chose to pursue my graduate degree at Kent State because of the amazing professors.
What do you enjoy most about attending Kent State for graduate school?
Some of the things I enjoy most about attending Kent State for graduate school are the classes, research projects, and the best ESL staff and faculty (Debbie Rozner, Mindy Uhrig, and many others).
What are your future goals?
One of my future goals is to be accepted into a PhD program.
What does this award mean to you and how will it aid you?
The David B. Smith Endowed Fellowship will help me support my research, participant compensation, and conference travel. Moreover, this scholarship will motivate me to apply for different conferences next year and represent 黑料网, advertise our program and university, and develop new research projects.
