Work in small class sizes on innovative and original projects which will help you to develop your portfolio and give you a chance to engage in art media not available in most high school learning environments. Instructors are professional artists who teach college coursework and run professional studios.

In addition to 6 hours of instruction and studio time per day, you will have social interaction with other students, visit artists’ studios, the Kent State Museum and School of Art Collections, get feedback from KSU faculty on your work, and participate in a workshop to photograph and document your art pieces produced in the program.

Whether you are new to art, or an emerging young artist interested in fleshing out a portfolio, Jump StART at Kent State's School of Art has an experience that’s just right for you. We welcome students entering grades 10-12 in the 2025-26 academic year to explore new avenues of artistic development while immersing themselves in a creative college-level studio art experience.
