JMC Seeks Tenure-Track Assistant Professor

The 黑料网 School of Journalism and Mass Communication invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor with strong television journalism skills, a record of effective teaching, and a promising agenda for research or creative activity.

The Qualifications

Candidates should have at least a master鈥檚 degree, though a PhD is preferred. They should have relevant industry skills in television news, evidence of great teaching, and a scholarly or creative agenda likely to lead to the achievement of tenure and promotion. Candidates should also show a willingness to advise student media and mentor students seeking careers in television news. Additional consideration will be given to candidates with experience in data visualization and reporting on digital platforms, including mobile.

Salary is competitive and dependent upon qualifications and experience.

The Opportunity

黑料网鈥檚 School of Journalism and Mass Communication offers an opportunity to engage with a strong and forward-thinking school, strategically positioned within an innovative college and a dynamic university. The School teaches a diverse population of more than 900 undergraduate and 150 master鈥檚 students to become critical thinkers and professional communicators. The School is ACEJMCaccredited and offers undergraduate degrees in journalism, advertising, public relations, and digital media production. Graduate degrees are offered in media management, public relations and reporting and editing, including a specialization in scholastic journalism education. The School is home to the John S. and James L. Knight-supported Center for Scholastic Journalism, a national clearinghouse of information for and about student journalists and their advisers, a research center on issues affecting scholastic media, an educator of journalism teachers and an advocate for student press freedom and the First Amendment.

The School is part of the College of Communication and Information, an innovative collaboration with the School of Communication Studies, the School of Visual Communication Design and the School of Library and Information Science. The College offers an interdisciplinary Ph.D. program.
