Senior Journalism and Mass Communications major, Phillip Grant, ’20, believes in striving to be the best version of himself. Earning the Dennis G. Cipriany Endowed Scholarship in Journalism and Mass Communication confirmed for him that he has the potential to be great.
“Receiving this scholarship is a testament to how hard I work,” Phillip says. “It allowed me to buy software that equips me with the diverse skill set I need to create the best multimedia projects I can to succeed academically. It also puts me in a great position to be hired once I graduate and head out into the field.”
Dennis Cipriany, whose estate funded Phillip’s scholarship, would have understood Phillip’s drive and determination. He supported Kent State throughout his lifetime and understood the importance of paying opportunity forward.
“Giving back gives the younger generation as well as the older generation hope,” says Phillip. “If young people are given the resources they need to tap their potential, then the world will be in a constant place of growth, cohesiveness and productivity.”
