Political Science doctoral student Amanda Clark and CACM Director Dr. Patrick Coy have a chapter in a new Nonviolence textbook! Their book chapter has just been published in Understanding Nonviolence: Contours and Contexts, edited by Maia Carter Hallward and Julie Norman, Polity Press, 2015. Clark and Coy’s chapter, “Civil Rights, Social Movements, and Domestic Policy: The 1960 Nashville Student Sit-In Movement,” applies Adam Curle’s model of sequencing strategies in social conflicts to describe and analyze the various stages and strategic loopbacks of the historic nonviolent conflict in Nashville that became a lynchpin in the development of the broader civil rights movement.
