As it prepares to usher in its 60th anniversary, Kent Trumbull Theatre has been awarded one of the Tribune Chronicle's Reader's Choice Awards, the Bronze Award in the Performing Arts Group.
This award means a great deal to the theatre and Kent State Trumbull's campus community, according to Eric Kildow, associate professor & theatre coordinator.
"When we celebrated the theatre's 50th anniversary in 2015, we committed to building on its success over the next 10 years," Kildow said. "This recognition allows us to reflect on our accomplishments and continue to contribute to the vitality of this community.鈥
In addition to adding a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies degree in Fall 2019, Kildow partnered with Modern Methods Brewing Company in 2020-21 to create "Sips and Scripts," a platform to support, promote, and produce new work written by local playwrights through monthly public readings. Because of its success, readings are now performed in the Modern Methods Brewing Company's Darlene Lounge on the first or second Wednesday of each month.
"Thank you to our friends and neighbors for their enthusiastic support," Kildow said. "We're looking forward to continuing high-quality art and entertainment in the Mahoning Valley."
Kent Trumbull's Theatre will present A Midsummer Night's Dream, April 4 - 6 and April 11 - 13. For more information, visit www.kent.edu/trumbull/theatre.
