With the release of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Coaches Week 7 Poll, the Kent State Tuscarawas basketball team finds themselves in uncharted waters as they moved into the Top 5 for the first-time in the University's five-year membership in the small college association.
The poll, which is released every Wednesday, lists the Eagles as No. 3 in the land as they narrowed the gap between themselves and first place to 13 points. In the Week 6 poll the Eagles were 32 points behind the leaders and were ranked No. 6.
Winners of five games in a row, the Golden Eagles (12-4) received 67 votes in the latest poll, thanks to their huge victory over previously third-ranked Miami Hamilton. Hamilton fell into a tie at No. 4, while Penn State York and Penn State Wilkes-Barre remained the points leaders at Nos. 1 & 2 with 80 and 75 points respectively.
The Golden Eagles notched another win on Wednesday night (96-85), defeating the Community College of Beaver County, a team that features big college transfers and other players seeking scholarships to play at the NCAA DI and DII level.
