In school we learn about mathematics, but not how to think about data. We are taught formulas, theories, postulates and axioms, but not how to think about data. We learn definitions, but not how to think about data and how to understand data.

This workshop provides a practice-based approach to learning coaching skills.

Techniques for utilizing coaching skills in a variety of situations are offered in role-play activities. Participants will also learn how to incorporate their employees’ performance evaluations into a “professional development plan” that will be used as that employee’s model for coaching throughout the year.

Participants will learn to use Minitab statistical software to analyze data using the basic tenants of the program.

Participants will review their role in managing performance. They will learn how to set and manage expectations and determine SMART goals. The facilitator will engage the participants in skill-building activities focusing on the feedback model, coaching for results, effective delegation, discussing growth opportunities and developing action plans.

The leadership group in an organization plays a critical role in driving continuous improvement initiatives and have direct responsibility for achieving results. At the same time, their functional areas (and even their own roles) will be affected as Lean techniques eliminate non-value-added activities. As a result, it is essential that this group understands why improvement is required, their important role in the Lean organization and how they can contribute to success.
