The College of Arts and Sciences has many centers and institutes that not only support the teaching, research and public service mission of the college, but also benefit our communities at large.

These research and service initiatives are wide-ranging and include everything from improving Ohio's natural resources and wildlife, to developing the next generation of liquid crystal display technologies, to providing opportunities for creative expression.

Established in 1965, the Advanced Materials Liquid Crystal Institute is a global academic leader in liquid crystal technology and home of the Graduate Chemical Physics Interdisciplinary Program (CPIP).

The Institute for African American Affairs/New World Studies, a segment of the Department of Pan-African Studies, provides practical support for the development of research and scholarship opportunities, innovative teaching methods, workshops and seminars concerning people of African descent.

The Institute for Applied Linguistics is a research and training unit affiliated with the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies at . The Institute and its faculty coordinate bachelors, masters and Ph.D. programs in Translation Studies with a focus on translation research skills, specialized translation, computer-assisted terminology and translation, software localization and project management for the language industry, but are also designed to provide a comprehensive foundation for skill development in humanistic translation and translation studies.

The Center of Pan-African Culture, founded in 1970 by the Black United Students (BUS), provides the opportunity and facilities for the exposition of painting, sculpture, oral and written literature, music, dance, theatre, and other cultural modes of expression that define people of African descent.

The Psychological Clinic provides services by masters and doctoral students under the close supervision of clinical faculty members who are licensed psychologists. The Clinic trains graduate students to be skillful clinicians, provides high quality empirically supported therapy and assessment services, and contributes to the development of new knowledge through applied research.
