Abigail Zied Receives the Marion C. and William B. Risman Family Scholarship in Jewish Studies

Our students are the first to acknowledge the importance of scholarships to their college experience. Alleviating at least some of the financial burden of our students allows them to bring their best selves to our campus: offering their unique perspectives and experiences and enriching our campus in many ways. That’s why we are always excited to share their achievements and applaud their accomplishments. We are pleased to acknowledge Abigail Zied, currently a sophomore, as the second recipient of the Marion C. And William B. Risman Family Scholarship in Jewish Studies.

Abigail is majoring in Psychology and concentrating in Child Psychology with minors in Jewish Studies and Human Development & Family Studies. She is very active on campus with Hillel and the Kent State Marching Golden Flashes Color Guard. She is from Springboro, Ohio where she is actively engaged in her community as well.

The Marion C. and William B. Risman Family Scholarship in Jewish Studies is granted to a student with a minimum GPA of 3.5 and who is pursuing a minor in Jewish Studies. This prestigious scholarship is renewable for up to two additional years and can be applied to any of the costs associated with attending KSU.

Chaya Kessler, senior lecturer and Director of the KSU Jewish Studies program has been instrumental in raising scholarship funds for students from throughout the community. She says, “we are grateful for the support we receive from local donors whose generosity helps our students achieve their goals and change the world.” Mazel Tov to Abigail, and congratulations on this honor.”
