Due to complications in travel accommodations during the traditional Jubilee (Holy Year) taking place across Italy throughout 2025, KSUCPM has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2025 seminar and move forward in plans for 2026.

The 2024 Foot & Ankle Renaissance is a continuing podiatric medical education conference presented by ºÚÁÏÍø College of Podiatric Medicine. ºÚÁÏÍø College of Podiatric Medicine is approved by the Council on Podiatric Medical Education as a provider of continuing education in podiatric medicine. ºÚÁÏÍø College of Podiatric Medicine has approved this activity for a maximum of 15+ continuing education contact hours.

Alternative to flying direct to Florence: Fly into Rome Fiumicino Airport and utilize the train into and out of Florence

If you're looking to extend your trip to Rome, our team has found that flying into Rome and taking a train to and from the Florence Train Station (a five-minute taxi to the conference location) offers the following benefits:

  • more cost-effective airfare 
  • domestic connecting flights as opposed to foreign connections 
  • simple, cost-effective train connections
  • eliminates the 35-40 minute taxi from the Florence airport to Florence City Center
  • allows time for site seeing and tours in both Rome and Florence

Train Instructions

  • Fly into Rome: Fiumicino Airport
  • Use the Leonardo Express to transfer from Fiumicino Airport Train (Airport Terminal) to Rome Termini Station (City Center)
    • roughly $18 USD
    • 32 minute commute with trains arriving every 30 minutes
    • guaranteed even in the event of a strike
  • Change trains at Rome Termini Station (City Center)
  • Board Train at Rome Termini Station (City Center) to Santa Maria Novella (Florence City Center)
    • roughly $16 USD
    • 1 hour 36 minute commute with trains running between Rome and Florence several times per hour
    • amenities on the train include air conditioning, electrical outlets, Wi-Fi, refreshment cart, restrooms and luggage racks
Goals & Objectives

Following the conclusion of this seminar, the participant will be able to:

  1. Discuss common imaging methods to evaluate Injuries associated with sports activities. 
  2. Understand the biomechanics and rehabilitation of common sports injuries.
  3. Discuss the surgical management of sports and other traumatic foot and ankle injuries, including evolving minimally invasive techniques.
  4. Appraise the status of total ankle joint arthroplasty.
  5. Discuss advances and options in first Metatarsal surgery, including minimal incision techniques.
  6. Evaluate the strategies of a multidisciplinary team approach to comprehensive management of patients with diabetic foot complications.
