The College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM) community is deeply saddened by the passing of long-adored former faculty member, Michael Forman, DPM, class of 1966. Born June 8, 1942, Dr. Forman passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the age of 81.
Dr. Forman found great success as a podiatrist, operating a private practice for over 55 years, and was a beloved longtime faculty member at the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (OCPM), now KSUCPM. His dedication as a professor and clinician in the Department of Orthopedics and Biomechanics from 1969 – 1999 brought him a reputation as a kind man with a great sense of humor, which earned the “Teacher of the Year” student-nominated award several times. KSUCPM Library Director Donna Perzeski recalls, “He was a really good guy with a great sense of humor, and would always make a point of stopping by to say hi or send a friendly email.” Donna remembers that even just typing his email address im4man@... would always make her laugh. “He will be missed!” she says.
Dr. Forman’s service to the profession went far beyond the classroom. He authored several scientific and practice management articles in podiatric journals, and held a special interest in forensic podiatry, even helping with a legal case. Dr. Forman also served as president of the Ohio Podiatric Medical Association, and was the first podiatrist in Ohio to attain staff privileges at a hospital. In addition, Dr. Forman founded and chaired residencies at Mt. Sinai Hospital and St. Vincent Charity Hospital, serving as the chief of podiatry at each.
