School's Out Forever! CPM Faculty Retiring this Spring

Dr. Kathy Siesel

Siesel

Dr. Siesel started her journey with KSUCPM as a 1989 graduate of the Ohio College of Podiatric Medicine (OCPM). Subsequent residency and fellowship programs with OCPM and the Cleveland Foot & Ankle Clinic (CFAC) lead her to the start of her career as a part-time clinical faculty member in 1991. In the years that followed, she would move on to be an Assistant Professor in 1992, and an Associate Professor in 1999, a position she has held since!

Dr. Siesel created a heel insert device, and was granted a U.S. patent for her innovative podiatric apparatus. She is a member of the Northeast Ohio Academy of Podiatric Medicine, the Ohio Foot and Ankle Medical Association and the American Podiatric Medical Association. Throughout her career, Dr. Siesel has always invested in not only KSUCPM students, but aspiring DPMs across the country. She has been appointed several times to compose test questions for APMLE Part 1, has lectured nationwide, and served on various committees to support admissions as well as the faculty community.

One look at her CV will tell you that Dr. Siesel cared deeply about her students and their understanding of podiatric biomechanics and the methods to treat patients. She has often encouraged community service and on-the-job practice outside of the classroom and clinic by serving alongside students at countless races, school sporting events, charity walks, care for seniors and more.

With Dr. Siesel’s well-earned retirement, we hope that she takes many fond memories of an accomplished career in podiatric medicine and education. She certainly leaves behind a legacy and some big shoes to fill! KSUCPM wishes you well in the years ahead, Dr. Siesel!

Dr. Tim Whittingham

Whittingham

A native of Madison, Wisconsin, Dr. Whittingham quickly became a favorite KSUCPM faculty member among students when he started his career with OCPM in 1993 as the Director of Biochemistry. With a PhD in Physiology from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, Dr. Whittingham’s career saw him teach courses in Neurochemistry, Neurological Surgery, Oral Biology, Pharmacology, Endocrinology, Dental Medicine and Basic Sciences to name a few.

Dr. Whittingham has served on a host of national and university committees, dedicating his time to constructing board exams for both dental and podiatric medicine, as well as serving various faculty senate and research committees across several schools in the United States and Mexico.

Even with the diversity of his courses as he made his way teaching throughout the country from Maryland to Cleveland, Dr. Whittingham’s career shows one common thread: the admiration of his students. Dr. Whittingham was elected Teacher of the Year by his students nearly every year from 1989 - 2011, and that says it all. KSUCPM will certainly miss you, Dr. Whittingham! Thank you for your many years of impact on our future physicians and surgeons!
