This week, Rangmei Li, Ph.D., a guest professor from Beijing Normal University in China, gave an insightful Aggarwal-Blackburn Visiting Scholar Presentation titled, "Using Mobile Eye Tracking to Examine Teachers’ Noticing." The Aggarwal-Blackburn Visiting Scholar presentations are held in the Read Room on the second floor in White Hall.
Li's lecture examined research on exploring secondary mathematics teachers' student awareness in authentic classroom settings using an expert novice analysis through Mobile Eye tracking and retrospective interviews. Her lecture focused on differences between an expert and a novice teacher in three key facets of teacher awareness during classroom instruction involving perception, interpretation and decision-making. Li's findings provide insights into the professional development of mathematics teachers.
The Aggarwal-Blackburn Visiting Scholars, named after Pushpa V. Aggarwal and Minta L. Blackburn, is the visiting scholar program housed in the Gerald H. Read Center for International and Intercultural Education in the College of Education, Health and Human Services at ºÚÁÏÍø.
