How to Apply

Students who obtained an initial license in MCED from Kent State

If you wish to add the MC Generalist License in Social Studies, you will need to contact the Registrar's Office by emailing acadschedctr@kent.edu to be re-activated as a student. You will have to take additional coursework and testing. If you want to add the Generalist License in English/Language Arts and/or Mathematics, you only need to take the test or tests listed above.

When the coursework and tests are completed, contact the Vacca Office of Student Services in the College of Education, Health & Human Services for the application for the Generalist License (phone: 330-672-2862 or e-mail oss@kent.edu). Cost is $20.00 to add one or two concentration areas (for a total of $20.00).

Students working toward an initial license in MCED

If you wish to add the MC Generalist License in Social Studies, take the course work required while you are working on your initial licensure. Then take the test. If you would like to add Mathematics and/or English/Language Arts, take the appropriate OAE tests. You may then apply for both the MCED license and the Generalist License/s at the same time through the Office of Academic Services. There will be no additional cost for the Generalist License/s. If you decide to wait until after graduation to obtain the Generalist License/s, then follow the procedure described in the above section.
