An important search is underway that will result in the appointment of an Undergraduate Student Trustee to the Board of Trustees. Applications from interested students for this two-year term position are now being accepted by the Office of the Vice President for Student Affairs. Currently, Jessica Peck and Carly Evans are Kent State’s graduate and undergraduate student trustees, respectively. Ms. Evans is completing her term of office this year and will serve as chair of the Student Trustee Search Committee, as required by university policy.

The events of May 4, 1970, placed in an international spotlight after a student protest against the Vietnam War and the presence of the Ohio National Guard ended in tragedy with four students losing their lives and nine others being wounded. From a perspective of nearly 50 years, Kent State remembers the tragedy and leads a contemporary discussion and understanding of how the community, nation and world can benefit from understanding the profound impact of the event.
