Dear Golden Flashes,
Get ready to soar! I am writing to share exciting information about our 2021 Fall Semester.
I am confident that you will have a full college experience this fall, with all the excitement and activities you expect from your first year on campus.
Our residence halls will be at near capacity, and our dining halls will be open for you to share meals with your friends. The Warren Student Recreation and Wellness Center will be open, and we have more than 400 student organizations waiting for you to join up, make new friends and make a difference.
Perhaps most important, our number of in-person classes for fall semester will be near pre-pandemic levels.
Fall Classes
We expect our classes and classrooms to be full, with the great majority of our classes that are traditionally offered in person returning to in-person instruction.
For those who are more comfortable with remote courses, this format still will be available for many courses. As you embark on fall scheduling, we urge you to be mindful about selecting the right type of class format for you, be it online, remote or in person. If you need help scheduling classes or identifying in-person courses, please contact your academic advisor.
Following the most recent guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention as interpreted by our local health officials, classroom seating will be 3 feet apart for fall semester, provided we continue to keep our number of cases of COVID-19 low and continue to wear face coverings.
For added safety in the classroom, the university is installing to enhance air purification and filtration in all our academic buildings. These units will help us to provide an added layer of defense against airborne viruses, as well as mold, odors and other pathogens common in inside spaces.
Homecoming
As part of our return to normal, we are planning a 2021 Homecoming celebration that will be like none before. Get ready to put on your blue and gold and celebrate on Oct. 2, when we will have a full slate of activities, including our traditional Homecoming football game when our Golden Flashes take on the Bowling Green State University Falcons. Keep checking our Homecoming website for more information about the day鈥檚 events as details are formalized.
There is so much ahead for you to learn, discover and achieve as a Golden Flash. I can鈥檛 wait to see you on campus! Welcome to the family!
Sincerely,
Todd Diacon
President
