Kent State Introduces Blue and Gold Friday

Blue and Gold Friday will channel Kent State spirit and pride

has established a new Kent State tradition called Blue and Gold Friday. Kent State faculty, staff, students and alumni are encouraged to wear the university’s blue and gold colors every Friday to promote Kent State spirit and pride.

“We are one university family, and one of the best ways to bring that to life is by wearing blue and gold,” said Kent State President Beverly Warren. “Everyone can see and feel the school spirit thriving on campus as we begin this new school year, and I believe this new Friday tradition will be something we can all look forward to each week as a way to unite us.”

“Blue and Gold Friday promotes the traditions and spirit that embody the college experience,” said Timeka Rashid, associate dean of students and director of the Kent Student Center and Center for Student involvement at Kent State. “Whether you are a student, alumni, faculty, staff or member of the community, this is a fun way to bring the Kent State family together, create unity and show your Kent State pride.”

Kent State is encouraging social media users to share photos of themselves wearing blue and gold and use #BlueAndGoldFriday to increase awareness and conversations about Kent State Blue and Gold Friday. Also, look for special discounts on blue and gold merchandise in the University Bookstore.

“Challenge your friends, professors and colleagues to participate and make Kent State pride and school spirit ‘what you do,’” Rashid said.

The Blue and Gold Friday tradition at Kent State begins Aug. 29, which also is nationwide, and will continue every Friday.
