Sole Mates teams members with their awards

Five 黑料网 Deparment of Mathematics faculty members won the 2024 Crosstown Throwdown Move Challenge. Under the team name 鈥淪ole Mates鈥, Beverly Reed, Tuyet Pham, Aaron Allen, Jiafeng Jin and Daisy Arokiasamy competed with the University of Akron and other 黑料网 staff and faculty to see which team could convert the longest period of activity into the most points.  Karl Uhrig, Ph.D., teaches a Freshman Honors Colloquium (FHC) section for Honors College first-year students entitled 鈥淒iscourse and Agency.鈥  In his class, Uhrig assigns readings, films, discussion topics and papers that examine discourse and agency鈥檚 role in society, but his course extends beyond fictional examples of both discourse and agency. Integration Bee 2025

  The Integration Bee, presented by Kent State鈥檚 Department of Mathematical Sciences on April 1,  is similar to a Spelling Bee, but instead of spelling words, competing teams of students solve integrals.    The event was open to students from all majors and faculty, undergraduate students and graduate students had fun solving challenging integrals, wearing costumes, and sharing pizza and math-themed jokes.
