Introduction to Climbing and Belaying Clinic

This two-and-a-half hour program covers the basics of indoor climbing including equipment, bouldering, top rope climbing, and belaying with an ATC and Gri-gri device. This program sets up an individual with no prior experience to take our belay test which is required when purchasing a climbing wall membership. Contact adventurecenter@kent.edu with any questions.

Park Clean-up Volunteer Event

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to give back to the Earth? Join us in a volunteer event cleaning up trails at Cuyahoga Valley National Park as a way to give back to nature! Together, we can keep our beautiful backyard looking pristine!
Date & Time: Sunday, Apr. 6 from 1 - 6 p.m.
Location: Cuyahoga Valley National Park - meet at the SRWC
Cost: $0 (free)

CPR/AED Professional Rescuer Blended Learning

All aquatics certifications are taught by American Red Cross-certified instructors. Please note that participation in a certification class does not guarantee certification. All skills related to the certification must be properly demonstrated (as defined by course outline) in order to receive certification. Participants must successfully complete all skills and score an 80% or better on each written test in order to be certified. Certificates will be emailed as a PDF from the American Red Cross within 10 days of completion of the class. Class will start promptly at the designated time.

Cascade Valley Metro Park Day Hike

Participants will have the opportunity to hike a beginner hiking trail in Cascade Valley. Chuckery Trail Loop is a 2.4 mile, moderately trafficked, loop trail located in Akron, Ohio that features a great forest setting, beautiful view of the Cuyahoga River, and is good for all skill levels. No prior experience is needed.
Date & Time: Saturday, Apr. 5 from 1 - 4 p.m.
Location: Cascade Valley Metro Park - meet at the SRWC
Cost: $10

SRC Vitalant Blood Drive

The Student Recreation Council has partnered with Vitalant to enable the campus community to experience the opportunity of saving a life. For every 50 units of blood collected throughout the academic year, Vitalant will award a $500 tuition scholarship to a ºÚÁÏÍø student.

Scheduled appointments will be taken before walk-ins.

Pool Kayak Clinic

New kayakers can come learn kayaking skills. Participants may bring their own boats via the loading dock stairs and back entrance as long as the boats are FULLY CLEANED before entering the pool. If you don’t own a boat, one will be provided for you to use. Contact adventurecenter@kent.edu with any questions. Pre-registration IS REQUIRED by the Wednesday before each program.

College Drop-in Clinics (swim clinics)

College aged students of any age, skill level, swim experience are able to drop into these skill clinics to work on their preferred skills with our Swim Coaches. Clinics can improve intro to water skills, advancing current strokes, learning new skills/strokes like flip-turns or butterfly, or even learn how to build your own swim workout to meet your goals!
Dates and Times: Thursdays, 5 - 5:45 p.m.
Jan. 30 - Apr. 24 (no classes on Mar. 13)
Cost:$5 per clinic
