Attacks that use AI can be difficult to detect and mitigate. However, there are several techniques that you can use to recognize and avoid these kinds of attacks and scams.

The rapid increase in the abilities of AI models has led to the creation of deepfakes. Deepfakes are video or audio messages generated by artificial intelligence, which can be used to impersonate an individual by mimicking their voice and face. Advanced AI models can generate deepfakes by using videos, audio clips, and images of their targets to create very realistic lookalikes. For those who have a large public social media presence, it is very easy for a scammer to obtain sample videos, audio and images, which could be used to generate a deepfake.
Artificial intelligence programs will process and store data entered into them. While every platform's policy on data retention and usage will vary, many public AI platforms will use this data to train the AI models. Because of this, your data may be used to influence the output of AI models, meaning that sensitive or proprietary information could be exposed to unauthorized individuals when the model answers their questions.
