The Wick Poetry Center is thrilled to announce its collaboration with the Library of Congress, which will feature the Traveling Stanzas exhibit at the 18th Library of Congress National Book Festival on Saturday, Sept. 1, at the Washington Convention Center.   The interactive exhibit includes both analog and digital engagement tools that invite guests to create poetry using the library’s rare book manuscripts, including Abraham Lincoln’s draft of a bill abolishing slavery from 1849 and Thomas Jefferson’s 1803 instructions to Meriwether Lewis for the Lewis and Clark Expedition. &nb...

The ºÚÁÏÍø Faculty/Staff Bowling League is now accepting new teams, members and substitute bowlers. Bowlers compete weekly on Monday evenings at 6:20 p.m. at Spins Bowl Kent (formerly Bill White’s Twinstar Lanes) on State Route 59 in Kent.   The bowling league is open to all full-time, part-time and retired employees, as well as their families and friends.   The 2018-19 Kent State bowling season begins Sept. 17 and continues through mid-April 2019. The fourth annual Run the World 5K will take place at ºÚÁÏÍø on Saturday, Sept. 8. The race raises money for the Run the World Fund, which provides scholarships for university study abroad programs.   New this year following the race, Main Street Kent, is sponsoring an International Festival downtown.   From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., live multicultural performances will take place at Dan Smith Community Park, including Sho-Jo-Ji Japanese dancers. The greenhouse effect is one of the most widely known causes of global climate change. It is currently caused by an excess of carbon dioxide (CO2) in the atmosphere due to burning of fossil fuels. Some natural processes can help slow climate change by removing CO2 from the atmosphere. For example, plants filter CO2 out of air and transfer carbon into soil where it can be sequestered for decades to centuries.
