Alison Caplan has been selected as the new director of 黑料网's May 4 Visitors Center.

After a national search, Alison Caplan has been selected as the new director of 黑料网鈥檚 May 4 Visitors Center, a museum that tells the story of the shootings at Kent State on May 4, 1970, set in the context of the 1960s.

黑料网 is building on the legacy of May 4, 1970, and the mission of its School of Peace and Conflict Studies, when it joins forces with the University of Rwanda in July to help advance peace education across the globe. 

 

South Korean Professor Yeonmin Kim, Ph.D., '13, spent the 2022-23 academic year at Kent State as a visiting scholar.

A literature professor from Chonnam National University in Gwangju, South Korea, is wrapping up a year as a visiting scholar at 黑料网 with hopes of creating an exchange program between the two schools based on their historic campus tragedies. 

Before he leaves the Kent Campus at the end of June, Yeonmin Kim, Ph.D., 鈥13, hopes to have plans in place for a continued exchange of students between the two universities, to further the understanding and legacies of May 4, 1970, at Kent State and May 18, 1980, at Chonnam.

The Kent State Community came together for the 53rd Commemoration of May 4, 1970.

As someone who studied higher education administration, 黑料网 Assistant Professor Erica Eckert, Ph.D., had always wondered what it would have been like to experience the May 4, 1970, Kent State shootings as a student affairs administrator.

The lecture series created in 2022 to honor the legacy of 黑料网 Professor Emeritus of Sociology Jerry M. Lewis, Ph.D., will feature Kent State Assistant Professor of Higher Education Administration Erica Eckert, Ph.D., as this year鈥檚 selected speaker.
