From Alaska to Kent State, How Four Students Became Golden Flashes

Richard Feinberg, Ph.D., Department of Anthropology, served as commentator on 鈥淎SAO Histories鈥 during the Association for Social Anthropology in Oceania鈥檚 meeting held Feb. 20, 2017, in Lihu鈥檈, Hawaii. On the 50th anniversary of its founding, the association is compiling a history of the association. Several long-term association members presented formal papers. Feinberg鈥檚 role was to offer critical commentary, add missing pieces and correct errors, based on his four decades of experience, including many years in a variety of leadership positions.
This past year, Feinberg was elected to the status of Honorary Fellow. At the 2017 meeting, he was formally honored by the association and assumed his new position.

Students Turn Smartphone Cases Into Lifesaving Medical Devices
Three Kent State students have created smartphone cases that contain vital medication.
Together, with the help of LaunchNET Kent State, the three created Case.MD. Ariella Yager, entrepreneur major in Kent State鈥檚 College of Business Administration; Samuel Graska, cell and molecular biology major in Kent State鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences; and Justin Gleason, graduate student in Kent State鈥檚 College of Architecture and Environmental Design spent more than a year planning, inventing, designing and 3-D printing smartphone cases that contain vital medication. Wherever your smartphone goes, so does the medication.
