University Advisor Council Membership

All members of the ºÚÁÏÍø Advisor Council may be required to serve on at least one established committee of Council.  Committee chairs will be determined by simple majority via an electronic ballot.

Committees will be established to support the following areas: Advocacy, Awards and Recognition, Communications, Data/Assessment Committee, Elections & Bylaws, Membership, and Technology.  

Membership Eligibility Requirements

  • Full-time academic advising staff (includes advisors and part-time graduate assistants) from all campuses
  • Must have one year of service at Kent State in advising (graduate assistants with less than are year are still eligible)
  • 1 representative from every advising unit (2 for units with 10 or more advising staff)
  • Must commit to serving a 2-year term 
  • Must have supervisor approval at time of application
  • Manager/supervisors may not serve on the Council at the same time as their direct reports 

First Membership Term

Jan 1, 2025 - December 31, 2027 

Call for Membership Timeline

October - A general interest survey will go out to all advisors (introduce, generate interest in membership and/or Executive board).

November- A formal call for membership to all academic advisors and staff.  Membership application will include eligibility requirements, expectations regarding participation and committee service, and option to apply for the first term Co-Chair and Secretary positions.

  • 2-year term limit

  • First membership term runs Jan 1, 2025- December 31, 2027

  • Looking for representation from all advising offices and campuses

  • Members will be determined, notified, and announced in December
