“The Upward Bound Program decreased my fears of being on my own to handle problems. This made the process of entering college less intimating and more aware of what is expected as a college student.”

"While at UB, I always focused on college. I also focused on being the best me I can be. UB pushed us to do our best. Now it is just something I do.”
The influence that Upward Bound has had over you:
UB has had a very strong influence over me. With the workshops and positive role models, UB makes leaders out of people. I feel that I am the student leader I am today because of it.
How Upward Bound was life changing:
My first day of being on a college campus was the first day of UB. UB made college real to me. I was there every week and saw how attainable my goal to go to college was. UB also gave me confidence. Every single day they told us that we could do anything we wanted to. After a while, I started to believe it.
Greatest Upward Bound memory:
The first UB alumni meeting I attended my semester in college I realized that UB was not something I did in high school but a support system and family for life. For some reason, I had this idea that UB was a regular program that was over after the last day of the summer. Boy was I wrong. UB has continued to be an important influence in my life.
