Dr. Mandy Munro-Stasiuk, Dean

Mandy Munro-Stasiuk completed her undergraduate degree in Geography and Archaeology in Scotland and moved to Canada where she received her MS in Geography from Memorial University of Newfoundland, and her Ph.D. in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Alberta. She began her career at Kent State in 1999 as an Assistant professor and made her way through the ranks to Professor. Munro-Stasiuk has served as the Chair of the Department of Geography, Associate Provost for Academic Affairs, and Interim Senior Associate Provost for Academic Affairs. She has led a number of initiatives at Kent State centered on faculty and student success, including textbook affordability, improving faculty mentoring, faculty and executive leadership development, and preparing the university to be more 鈥渟tudent-ready鈥. Being an only child, and a first generation university student, she is all too familiar with the impacts that these can have on an aspiring student, as such she is a fierce advocate for student-ready initiatives and promotes culture and belonging at every opportunity. Munro-Stasiuk is still active in research and collaborates on federally funded research projects that examine the intersection of humans and the environment. She is especially interested in water processes, infrastructure, and resources and has worked extensively in Canada, Iceland, Mexico, Cambodia and the United States.
