Professional Development Overview
The Division of Student Life is committed to developing the knowledge and skills of our team members. We value the education and career development of each employee and believe professional development is essential to promoting a standard of excellence within the Division of Student Life.
The professional development curriculum includes formal and informal learning strategies for professional and personal growth. Through these opportunities, professional development knowledge is shared, and skills are expanded. Professional development is a life-long commitment that includes development of skills at varying levels and at different stages throughout the career path.
SELF-ASSESSMENT
The following self-assessment is designed to identify areas for professional growth and development, using the ACPA/NASPA professional competencies, which describe essential knowledge, skills, and dispositions expected of all student affairs educators, regardless of functional area or specialization within the field.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN
This individual professional development plan is designed to serve as a catalyst for staff to work towards developing goals and to identify specific actions, experiences, and opportunities to achieve agreed upon goals. The Professional Development Curriculum is intended to define the knowledge, skills and, attitudes of student affairs professionals at ºÚÁÏÍø. Based on the ACPA/NASPA Professional Competencies, the Professional Development Curriculum provides intentional, dynamic, and independent learning opportunities for all staff, regardless of experience or functional duties.

The Division of Student Life staff are encouraged to utilize internal and external resources to facilitate their professional development plan. Internal resources include the Division Standing Committees, Student Life Fellows Institute, and KSU Training & Development. External resources consist of opportunities outside of the university such as NASPA, ACPA, LinkedIn Learning, and additional professional associations.
