McGilvrey Kidnap

In 1941, a writing exercise for high school journalists visiting Kent State was centered around a fictional kidnapping of the university's first president, John E. McGilvrey. In a pre-internet version of a "home page takeover," the stories ran on the front page of the Kent Stater - without including information revealing that they were not real!

Birds flew overhead, black squirrels darted around and a cool, calm breeze swept across Risman Plaza on April 22 as dozens of organizations assembled their tables for Earth Fest, an interactive Earth Day event.  

Kent State students at 2023 May 4 Commemoration

An all-day conference, presented by the May 4 Education Committee for K-12 educators, students, and ºÚÁÏÍø faculty and staff, will help participants demonstrate knowledge about the critical history of student activism and organizing at Kent State, emphasizing the significance of May 4.

2024 Honors College Graduates

Honors College students graduating in spring, summer and fall 2024, along with distinguished faculty and alumni were honored at a special luncheon event in the Kent Student Center Ballroom.

Kent State staffers from Counseling and Psychological Services wore teal in support of their colleagues at the Center for Sexual and Relationship Violence Support Services' Teal Tuesday campaign for Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
