The Peer Mentoring Project is an endeavor of the Kent State Ashtabula campus to increase student success within the Health Degree programs in the first semester of college. Success in the first semester will lead to higher retention rates, more academic confidence, fewer course repeats, higher levels of preparedness, and quicker entrance into healthcare-related programs. A person鈥檚 genetic makeup influences how frequently he or she uses social media, according to research by Chance York, Ph.D., assistant professor in Kent State鈥檚 School of Journalism and Mass Communication. York conducted the research by comparing survey responses between sets of fraternal and identical twins 鈥 an approach that has been widely used to study how political views, among other things, are influenced by genetic traits. Ms. Kayleigh Crumb has been an excellent choice as the first student to receive the recently endowed 鈥楨lizabeth Z. Bartz Scholarship for Howland Tigers,鈥 given to a graduate of Howland High School and entering 黑料网 at Trumbull Campus as a freshman. Ms. Crumb received the 2016 scholarship award last Fall, after graduating from high school, and enrolling at the KSU Trumbull campus.
