Cirque Mechanics Comes to Tuscarawas Campus

Contemporary circus company Cirque Mechanics will bring its Birdhouse Factory show to the Performing Arts Center at - Tuscarawas on Tuesday, January 25, at 7:30 p.m.

Prepare yourself for an exceptional evening of wit, whimsy and wonder on this spectacular ride full of daredevil antics, circus acrobatics and mechanical marvels! 

Enter the most unlikely setting for a circus, a factory. One where the workers are acrobats and the machines are circus props. Welcome to Birdhouse Factory!

See a contortionist perform on a turntable powered by unicyclists. Be captivated by the trapeze artist powered by the spins of an acrobat inside a giant wheel. Be stunned as the trampoline wall artists defy the laws of physics. Giggle at the antics of the characters, be impressed by the acro-dancing and enchanted by the story of laughter, love, flight and birdhouses. Read the full story.


Arts and Sciences Faculty Publish Plethora of Books

Have you ever wondered how Asian Americans helped win the Allied victory? What inspired Hemingway’s writings while in Paris? How has Wonder Woman impacted comics, feminism, and pop culture over the past 80 years? The diverse faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences have you covered.

A Celebration to Honor the Life and Legacy of Martin Luther King Jr.

Award-winning documentary filmmaker Dawn Porter will serve as keynote speaker for the annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration at . Porter’s work has appeared on HBO, PBS, Discovery and Netflix, among others. She currently serves as a director and executive producer of an Apple TV documentary series with Oprah Winfrey and Prince Harry, which focuses on both mental illness and mental well-being.

Porter directed and produced the acclaimed four-hour Netflix original series “Bobby Kennedy for President,” which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2018. She is a two-time Sundance Film Festival director, and her film “Trapped” won the Special Jury Award for Social Impact Filmmaking at Sundance in 2016, in addition to winning a Peabody and numerous other awards.  

The annual Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration will take place on Thursday, Jan. 27, 2022, at 5:30 p.m. Due to the current surge of COVID cases in Northeast Ohio, the program will be virtual. .

Good health and well-being involve the interaction of multiple dimensions of human living. Join Doug Newton as he discusses how we can thrive in our health and prevent, or slow the progression of, common diseases through integrated self-care across multiple dimensions of health. 

Doug will also cover how to design a holistic or integrative strategy to address preparing for and recovering from major surgeries and other medical procedures. After this webinar, you’ll walk away with a clear plan and vision for optimal health.
